"Exclusive from the Wellborn Museum Collection..."

Alas, I must admit I am not aware of the Wellborn Museum, nor did I know the Wellborn Museum had a collection.

I need to get out more.

I'll take the Super King Air in the background, y'all can have the Corvette. At this point in life, I need to get where I am going pretty quick, time is a gittin' shorter... It would not take it long to get here from Denver, where it landed yesterday. I could be in FL in a couple of hours....

Sorry to say that everything that was mentioned here is not enough to disqualify this car from being Top Flight. Most of the things mentioned are very minor changes one might make over the course of 40 years. Most could be easily remedied. I do not see twin mirrors and sadly many of these cars received luggage racks. A sticker, air cleaner lid and replaced exhaust/tips and even diverter valve (3 points for originality and condition) would not necessarily knock this car down to second flight. Besides which a Top Flight, while wonderful to have is merely a snapshot at a point in time. No less and no more.
I would definitely agree with all that is said above, plus the price is not bad in my opinion.

Well the Wellborn Muscle Car Museum appears to be real- and it looks pretty cool.

            hey guys ..

just a note .. I know Patrick Krook, he is a broker for cars.
He sells really nice cars, not junkers. Most of the cars he has brokered are real high end Hemi or 440+6 cars, but he also helps with Vettes, and other Chevy products.

I've monitored his website for years and he has always brokered nice cars and has a good reputation. Just high prices sometimes. I requested the judging sheets and he sent them to me. It was judged in Wisconsin in 2006. Lots of minor deducts for condtion, pitting, rust, MISSING diverter valve etc. Scored with 800+ driving mileage exactly 94. Showed front bumper repaint in enamel, non working air, cigarette lighter but overall scored pretty well if mostly original

When I purchased my '73..I saw the ad in the Driveline and it was advertised as a NCRS Second Flight Car. So I asked to see the Judging Sheets while I was looking the car over to buy. I figured since he advertised the car as a Second Flight car he should be willing to back it up with the Judging Sheets.

I find the Judging Sheets to be as helpful in evaluating the car for purchase as looking over the car with others experienced Corvette people.

I totally agree, when I sold my second flight '66, I also included the scoring sheets (1 pt. from Top Flight) thinking any buyer would be very glad to see them. It turned out the guy who bought it could care less about judging and NCRS, he just wanted a great looking, reliable C2 to drive around. I would suspect the majority of people who buy old 'Vettes are like him.

I guess it depends on how much your spending on which way is better...Paperwork or Curb Appeal?

Interesting discussion. I thought Top Flite was 94% original, not 100%. I scored top flight at chapter level on my 74 coupe. I have no smog pump, wrong date coded carb and incorrect mufflers. I honestly thought I would not get it and did not deserve it. I am glad NCRS recognizes that some things must be changed and individual owners can do some personalization on their cars. That what many owners did when these cars were new. I am proud to be part of this fine organization.

I must admit though, it is fun to pick apart other cars! That is how we learn.

Top Flight on your '74 makes me think that your car must be in really nice condition with major deduct for missing A.I.R System.

In my observance of the 94% or higher pretty much needs to be all original minus condition points. Maybe one major item could be gone, but to me 6% is not much and pretty much covers service replacement items like tires, batteries, hoses etc. maybe some repo parts and then scratches, nicks, dirt and condition.

When I purchased my car it was missing the A.I.R System like most big blocks do and it was very difficult to attain Top Flight until I got the system on the car.

                            Congrats on the Top Flight.

Just surprised is all, maybe my car isn't as far from a ribbon as I thought! The judges would get writers cramp from documenting all that is wrong on my car. I do have a 20+ year collection of correct and NOS parts to install someday, restoration garage in the planning stage! I know I should try a chapter meet, but I live in the boonies, reluctant to drive that far till I get the rear bearings and u-joints done. What makes me grind my teeth is someone who INSISTS that a part on his car is correct, and everyone else is wrong! Who knows, maybe his car DID come with that lid, but to phrase it like he did....
