    66 390 hp cam

Can anyone tell me of any identifying marks to determine an original 66 390HP camshaft? I have a cam with the groove and no part # on the rear of the rear journal at 12:00 is an A and at 6:00 is a J and at 3:00 is what appeers to be an underscored A with something next to it? Looking for some guidance.

    Thanks in advance

    Anthony -

That cam core was casting #3883934; I'd look for "3944" cast into it somewhere between the lobes.

John Thanks I just checked and found the numbers!! it is the original cam that I took out 35 years ago when I was 20 years old, and installed a solid lifter 173 cam. I had the sence back then to oil and grease it and wrap it. but didn't think to LABEL IT just a dumb kid. I set it up on V blocks and checked the lift with a dial indicator, seems that all the lobes are down.010-.015 from the spec of .2824 and .2714. Wan't to make it "as original" as that is the only alteration that was made since I owned it.

Thanks again you guys have all the answers!!
