    64 Wheels

    Hello;
    I have some 64 wheels with no date stamps inside the rims. They have the GM on the ribs by the lug hole. What can you guys tell me about them?
    Thanks,
    Ken Joseph

      Re: 64 Wheels

      Having "GM" stamped on them does not tell me anything other then they are GM wheels. Are they stamped "15 X 5 1/2 K", "KELSEY HAYES", and have the Kelsey Hayes logo on the inside? Is the offset 7/16"? Are they welded or do they have rivets?

        Hello;
        The wheels are welded. I didn't see any K/H. How do you measure the
        offset? Pictures coming Monday.
        Thanks,
        Ken Joseph

          The offset distance from the mounting surface to the center of the wheel.

            Here is an original Mar64, inside rim with date, notice the "1" by the 15 and then the "64" by the 1/2

            (notice the slight yellow primer showing, I have also noticed the same yellow stuff on my left trailing arm just a little. Not typical however stock stuff for that day and still a mystery)

              Looking at the profile would tell you a lot. '63 / '64 wheels have a tapered center hub.

                The profile is good. The offset is 7/16, but no stamps but the GM on the
                face of the wheel. What do we have here?
                Thanks to all.

                  I assume the wheel is stamped "15 X 5 1/2 K" or at least measures !5" and 5 1/2".
                  Does the hub hole measure 2 25/32" in dia. or 2 29/32" in dia.?
                  Is there a small hole (about 1/8" dia.) in one of the 5 "bumps" on the front face?
                  Are there any stampings near the valve hole? I believe that the stampings near the valve hole on the K-H wheels began sometime in 1967 or 1968. I would have to check my research to be sure.

                    And the face shot;
                    Note no hole, no stamp @ valve stem Again comments based upon a Mar64 rim after that no comments.
