Converted to right hand drive !!!!

Thought it was flipped photos at first, but it's not. She's a right hander.

      Tom,

Here is what part of the description sez:

The only Z06 Split Window Corvette in Australia. The rarest mid year (1963-67) Corvette in Australia. Only 199 Z06 Corvettes were built in 1963. Exported by GM to Australia in 1963.

So, did the conversion take place here in USA before export? Again, wonder if there is any documentation to support the claim that GM exported? Didn't REAL export cars have a special VIN tag or something?

      Mr. Hinckley????

I'm sure John will have the facts, but I am going to say the conversion was done there, not here. I don't think an export car got a special VIN tag, that I know of. Possibly an additional ID plate of some sort to designate it as an export.

          Rick -

The RHD conversion had to be done by an outside shop in Australia - GM didn't do anything here other than to ship it; there were no special tags or numbers applied at St. Louis on export cars in those days. If it was exported by GM for sale there (vs. being exported privately), there would be a GM paper trail to document it.

            Hey John

Here's one from a 65 that Pro Team had at one time. Where and when was this type of tag installed ?????

              Tom,

Thanks for posting the pix! That was exactly the kind of tag I was thinking of just didn't remember where I saw one

BTW - got an email from Jim Gessner about the car:

WAS FOR SALE LAST SPRING. VIN AND TRIM TAGS ARE SCREWED ON. SELLER WILL NOT GET VIN OFF CHASSIS, SO BUYER BEWARE.

I wonder how they routed the tach cable and the accelerator rod?

Observations, they never put a passenger side mirror on it? and it is funny to see the grab handle above the gage cluster.....I can only imagine the amount of work to flip the master cyclinder and the heater core around not to mention the parking brake and battery?

It would be interesting to see a picture of the screwed on tags and see if they line up together or are at least in the same ballpark, serial # vs body #.
I too had never seen this '63 before.

                      Interested 63 NCRS Members,

Look at the Brooks survey and notice that ZO-6 cars were built in groups. In other words several were built over a short period of time and then a few thru the year. Check out the 8000 to 9000 time period.

With the exception of a loaded ZO-6 in the 13,XXX series there were no ZO-6's built around that time. Did I say loaded including KO wheels. Yeah, right!!!

'63 #14,809 is close to this car and listed in the copy I have of the B' jones Z06 registry.
I also have #14,581 as being a Z06, or at least claiming to be.
                          Also, #15,033.

                            Syd,

Don't have a copy of the B-Jones registry. Is all the L. Brooks cars listed in the B-Jones registry?
Looks like somebody needs to combine all the material floating around. I know I could learn something about 63's and maybe the Judging Manual could reflect some of the information. That would be nice!

                              Hi JR,

I don't think I've ever compared the 2 lists but I doubt very much that Larry B. had all the Z06's that are in the Jones registry. Remember that Brooks recorded his 1963 list in the late 70's.
I have these lists combined with my own list of 63's.
If the entry on my list came from either of these 2 sources I have them marked as such.

If this car is a real Z06, parts bought or not, tags screwed back on and all, it would be another great find.
Would the shipping data report be a good start to show it's Austrailia lineage?
