Is that a painted dash panel? Vinyl covered panel would have been production months before this car was assembled.

The radio looks like a correct AM.

No doubt there are those with no interest in judging events. But this car appears from the pics to have a well done resto and it's for sale for a quarter million dollars. A regional or national TF would answer a lot of questions if I had that kind of cash to spend.

Anyway, he deducted all points because it was pitted and aged. The engine block is almost 46 years old and the engine sat apart for a long time exposed to the elements. I am going to file an appeal, if it isnt too late, but i was curious if anybody else had received a full deduction for a pitted and aged stamp pad."
Exactly Clem, there are many downsides to having your car judged, this is a good example. I can easily understand why many will not go to NCRS and BG, I have several friends with pretty rare C1s and C2s who want nothing to do with it all.

I believe I have a number of photos of this car from several years back when a young Gentleman had it at at an Eckler's show held one year only on the streets of Celebration, Florida. I spoke at length with him and he seemed very knowledgeable about Z06's, as well as C-2 Vettes (he was the first to show me how to spot 461-x heads). He is a young, wealthy, "hands on" car collector and, if I recall right, was a low number NCRS member which I thought odd given his youthful appearance.

Put your thinking caps on while I go look for my photos.

Rick -- checked the Z06 registry spreadsheets that Bob Jones sent me in 2003 and 2006, and VIN #8834 does show as a big tank Z06. F3 trim tag, nothing in power window column or radio column (doesn't necessarily mean that these are delete, maybe just not reported). Heater is listed as present.

I show #8834 on my big tank survey [all N03, all years] at least from 1996; I'm trying to find out where I heard about it, and will report if successful.

Was thinking the same due to huge offset between the elbow of the air cleaner and the centerline of the air meter. Something (rad support ?) is too far forward.

And weren't those rubber air inlet hoses supposed to be thick (and stiffer) in that time period ? I know the one on my old L84 #7055 was.

Found my photos and that is the car alright. I can't make out the front tag but it was white (meaningless). I believe I recall he was wearing an older NCRS jacket, possibly even a judge. The show was on March 7-8, 2008 at Celebration, Florida.

Michael -- OK; found my source for that car on my N03 survey. Got a call on 19 Aug. 1997 from a Mike McLain (sp?) of Marshall MI, saying he had #8834. I added it to my list and sent him a copy.

PM me if you want the street address and zip (although much can change over 14 years).

An amateurish restoration job certainly not done by one of the top restorers in this country.

Way too much wrong with that bucket of bolts to achieve a top flight let alone bring a quarter of a million!!!!!!!!!!

The guy is dreaming or depending on some idiot to come along. But wait, I hear a baby crying now!

I think I remember that car now. I judged the engine/compartment at Bloomington back in the mid/late 80's. I can't think of the owners name. Jorjorian judged chassis.

Edit: I just learned that it isn't the same car that I judged at Bloomington.

                          Re: '63 Z06 on eBay...

I've been looking at this thread for a while now and recall a long time member here, David Van Weele, who ordered a new '63 Z06 back in late '62. He also had his website as his signature on his posts here. Does anyone remember him? He had hundreds of posts here and I can't find one of them.

I don't think he is with us anymore and I've been trying to search for some of his old posts from the early 2000's and come up with nothing. I tried looking in the "Archives"? above and all that place seems to be is a book store. What happened to the old yellow and black archives section where we could see any old post, regardless of whether or not a member is still around or am I not looking in the right place?

Did the NCRS can all those old posts that were made years back because the posters are no longer dues paying members? Anyway I did find one of David's blogs about his '63 Z06 below. PT

David's car changed hands at B-J 3-4 years ago for something in the 175K range to an AZ buyer. If you have something specific, I'll check with one of his contacts to see if he wants to respond.

The guy must be doing something right as he owns three Z06's with one at Nabors being restored.Alot of owners won't have their cars judged because some people pass judgement and put a value their car without even looking at it...IMHO

Strange Clem, that exact same post appeared here. As the thread evolved it turned out that the owner may have received only a deduction for his pad surface. Last time I looked at the thread he was going to look at the score sheets and tell us exactly what the deduction was -- he wasn't sure.

I thought it interesting that the story changed when some of us who know the NCRS system began to ask questions. Of course that probably wouldn't happen on that other site. His story would just incite anther frenzy of the NCRS bashing that they love so much over there. At least there is no NCRS bashing on their C6 forums.
