The originals have patent number(s) stamped(?) in the retaining clips and were delivered from St. Louis in the rear compartment in clear bags with one small staple holding the bag shut.

I'll post a PIC later if someone else doesn't do it first.

        Mark,
I have a pair that I purchased over the counter from a Chev. dealer and it too has the patent number so by "original" you mean ones manufactured by/for GM for service also and not only those delivered with the car.

          Jeff,

Yes, they sound like they would be just like the assembly line delivered version. Check that they are magnetic (like me ), size of the rivet and patent number and I would think they would achieve full credit. If it changes that are judged under 'Mech I' I'll give them full credit.

I believe the rivets on the originals are different than the service replacements.

              Good info, Dave.

Jeffrey..thanks for the tip on the Balkamp # numbers on the license plate screws. I called the part number into my local NAPA Auto Parts Store and they did not have any in stock, but could get them the next morning.

Picked them up today....perfect for judging. Cost was $5.44 for pack of 20. $0.27 each is much better than $1.50 from vendors if you can find them.

I don't need any right now, but always have some local Chapter Members who don't have the correct screws and can't find them.

So they go into my stock!

                Thanks again.
