    Re: Tire size 70 corvette

About six months ago I googled: Firestone PV41 225/70R-15 and found a couple of places that still have them, so I bought a set. These are the last of the V-rated "police pursuit tires".

They are out of production, as are the equivalent Goodyear Eagle RSA and General XP2000V in this size, but there may be a few sets still in retail inventory that you might be able to find with a simple Google search.

My PV41s were manufactured in September 2010, which I figure was probably near the end of this tire's production run.

If money were no object it would be ideal to have the rally rims with Kelsey Goodyear Speedway RWL tires for show and some 17" wheels with good V rated tires for driving.

I really dislike the look of my White/black corvette with 15" blackwalls.

Now Chrome 17" Cragar ss with blackwalls look great. Saw 17" tires with narrow red line and ww and they looked great but not cheap.

When I first bought my '71 back in '78, I put brand new BF Goodrich radial T/A tires on AZ rims, size 225-70R14. The fronts always rubbed slightly on the inside but were OK just as long as I didn't do a hard right or left turn. I replaced the the T/As in 2003 with Firestone 215-70R14 tires and they've worked fine. I always thought the 215s were the same as the old F70 designation and that 225s were the same as the old G70 designation.

          Correction - they were 15s, not 14s! I've got too many cars!|

I ran 255 60 15's years ago on my 70. They rubbed the fenders and the frame at times. Not a lot if it a driver. I use 225 70 15's and they still rub the frame occassionally.

That seems to be pretty common Stephen. I was thinking of getting the 225-15 70 Firestone Indy 500. They are almost a 1/2" taller than originals at 27.4". I think the T/As are a little shorter.
