1958 Corvette Engine Compartment
I have an early Corvette that came without the optional heater. My question is, it has a screen where the heater air inlet would normally be. Is that correct? The drivers side is open, without a screen or block off plate. Is that correct? I have attached pictures, the passenger side does not have the screen installed right now.

My 61 did not have a heater or radio. It was as you described. It was an untouched original car. so yours should be correct.

I found out from another source that 58-60 Corvettes had a solid plate on both sides of the car if it did not have Fuel Injection or a heater. The plates were not on when the engine compartment was painted. Like some other parts they were dipped in paint.
My car had some front end damage and a replacement core support. That's probably the reason for the plates not being original.Comment

The 250 HP cars did not have the air hose and drivers side would be blanked
