Look at the date it was judged. A lot has been learned about stamps and trim tags since then.

      Re: 67 Engine pad Original?

      Just to summarize:
      1997 Duntov award
      2004 B-J, white/black, original window+tank sticker, bolt-ons, undercar exhaust, sold 97,200
      2006 B-J, green/green, original window+tank sticker, bolt-ons, undercar exhaust, sold 105,840
2011?: Matthews Collection, yellow/black, rally wheels, side exhaust

I'm no expert, I like the engine pad, but why 3 owners in 7 years, auctioned twice, 3 different colors. What can be believed about the car? I guess with careful inspection somebody could get a very nice car at a good price.

Any 67 BB is nice but you can't expect anything more than its a nice multiply restored car...Starting from the tank sticker

Might as well start with one of these:

Looks to me that the engine pad may be legit .I kinda doubt anyone would buy all those tank/window stickers and do the color/interior changes if the engine was a restamp unless they were trying to see how much they could
get by the judges before they caught on.Must hold the record for the most different color combinations with supporting documentation...

Sure thing, at least you know what your foundation is!

I think that pricing shows the buyers did not think the documentation./presentation represented what it should have. The market for a like car, in 2006, was over $200k, with the high pushing $230k.

Thanks you for your expertise gentlemen. I did contact the Mathis Group and talked to the salesman. He was intrigued when I discussed what had been found. He said they sold it green in the late 90s. They also had the yellow one at the same time. They accidentally added only the pictures of the yellow car and didn't change the serial number. He confirmed the yellow car that sold a few years later did not have the serial number on their website. Car was truly green when owned by Mathis collection with the serial number listed on the yellows web picture. Anyone know of connections at the auction house to investigate a possible similar issue with the white car?
Paperwork and tank sticker, window sticker all say green all of it's life.
Boy, search engines are an amazing thing! I will continue to pursue this car as I feel better about the broach pad.
                Thanks,
                Ron

That makes more sense than all the color changes. I've done all I can with my search abilities and database. Make sure that trim tag and vin tag are dead on correct.

It does not look like the way they did that rework, altough there is something that appears like cross grinding.

Could this one be just a matter of someone dusting up the last two digits?

There were a lot of J engine codes in 67.

If one would say that the factory did this, why did they stamp them so neatly? So we could have this discussion 45 years later?

                        Ron,

Sending you a PM on this car. I was researching it myself for potential purchase this week and found this thread almost by chance.
