    Gary -

    The protocol is to send a note to the 1965 National Judging Team Leader (Mike Murray); his contact info is on the inside front cover of the "Restorer". You might include a link to this thread with your recommendation.

        Big Gaz - as John H suggests (thanks John) best for you to send a note to Mike Murray to avoid the tears at April's meet....I'll stand-by with my can of black paint.....in the meantime I might get my old woolen mitts out and give my SILVER side panels that mitted look

            I have checked this issue in the new 6th edition of the 65 JG and found the following;
            On page Interior 9, it says on the Interior Trim Code table for colour 426 the dash colour is black.
            Then (**) states that Dash Colour applies to dash panel, dash pads, speaker grill, console, radio side panels and lower windshield. Indicating my radio side panels should be black.
            However on page Interior 23 in Side trim panels, it states they should be painted interior colour.
            So it is still not clear.
            Here are the pictures again so you can see which colour looks best.

              Disagree, If you want your car correct, John Hinckley has stated the panels are black with silver interior. He was there and should know. It makes no difference what the judging guide states. Playing the game "manual states" is BS.

                  Re: Silver/Silver 65 colour of radio side panels

                  This reply is not in reference to 1965 Silver/Silver coupe's, but is just to add to my previous post above in 2011, about a 66 Silver/Silver coupe dash colors. A very close friend (now deceased) special ordered and purchased a new 1966 Silver/Silver coupe, 427/390, with M20 wide ratio 4 speed and 3:55 positraction, in April of 1966. FWIW, this is the way the car was actually built at St Louis and received by the selling dealer, not a guess about how it was made. The car was delivered at the selling dealer, with a Silver dash, dash pads, radio side panels, kick panels, and the paint on console. The carpet was Gray and had the late 66-67 seat belts. You can write all then manuals and guides you want, but it does not change the real facts.
