Anyone that was involved in the Corvette Hobby knew John. He was an icon and one of the good guys. John, you will be missed by all. God bless you and your family.

John had a deep Love for Jesus Christ and always took every chance to express it. When you dealt with John you knew you were dealing with a person who had deep Christian values. For John it was not about the money .John was the definition of integrity. Years ago I bought a Voltage regulator for my 1955 Chevy convertible .Several and I mean several years later I got A call from John asking what part number regulator he had sent .He told me he had sent the wrong regulator . That the one I needed for power steering only came on the cars not over the counter .He asked what date I needed and sent me free of charge the correct one and paid the shipping. He has gone to be with his Savior Jesus Christ.

It is clear the impact John Sr. has left on this group and hobby and he will be missed by many. I only dealt with John once, great man, his passion for the hobby and his work will remain in my thoughts and as a part of the history of my car.

              My condolences

                Re: John Pirkle, Sr.

I never had the pleasure to meet John. However, I had the pleasure of speaking to him over the phone, and doing business with him. In early 2001, I called John in regards to purchasing a generator and regulator for my 59 2x4 car. John told me what I needed in regards to numbers, and pulley size, and tach drive, and that he could provide everything I needed, and it would be ready in a few weeks. About six weeks later I called John to see if the generator was ready, and he said no. I asked if there was a problem ,and he replied that he wasn't happy with the way the color had come out and he wanted to change the case and re-do the whole thing. John did this at his own expense. I paid nothing extra for that service. He wanted my car to have a generator that met his high standard. It wasn't about the money, it was about providing the highest quality part. John will be missed by all those that he touched, and I offer my most sincere sympathies to his family. Gary

My memory of John will live forever in the horn relay of my rare 1965 Rally Red/Red L76 C-60 Coupe.

His work will continue on with John, Jr. It was John, Sr's goal to help him build a business that he could continue on after he retired.

                      Re: John Pirkle, Sr.

While working on my 1966 Corvette, I had many telephone conversations with Mr.Pirkle about restoring my alternator, starter, and purchasing a horn relay, voltage regulator, radiator cap and wiper blades inserts.

In April of 1989 I finally had the pleasure to meet Mr. Pirkle for the first time at an NCRS judging event in Alpharetta, Georgia. As I unloaded the car and got it in position for the judging a tall man came over and introduces himself as John Pirkle. As we were talking I told him that he did pretty work and that everything that he had done was spot on. As he was looking over my engine compartment he asked me whose radiator cap that was, and of course I told him that it was his. I refreshed his memory on what I had bought and he had restored for me. I told him that I was very impressed with his work and would recommend him to my friends. After we finished talking Mr. Pirkle left but later returned. He told me he wanted the radiator cap back because the one on the car did not suit him and it wasn't presentable for judging. I did not see anything wrong with it but Mr. Pirkle did. He exchanged it and would not accept any kind of payment for it.

At Mr. Pirkle's funeral service on Tuesday there was a reference that summed up Mr. Pirkle: "Any job worth doing was worth overdoing." Mr. Pirkle took pride inhis work, honored his country, and loved his God and family. He, also, had a way of making you feel welcome where ever he saw you.

Mr. Pirkle will be sorely missed by all.
