There should be only 1 tag on the lap belt. right. It is Hamil and has the date code. How about the harness? I know there is one up inside the retractor housing but is there another one at the other end ?

Re: Seat belt belt and shoulder harness tag question on a 70
Steve, There is a another label near the other end on both the lap and shoulder belt that gives a warning about their usage. The 1970-72 TI & JG lists these wordings for these:
Sewn to the latch end of the outboard lap belt was another tag of the same material as date labels, which reads IMPORTANT wear lap belt at all times. Adjust snugly. Another tag sewn near the latch end of the shoulder harness reads IMPORTANT Attach shoulder harness securely to lap belts. Do not use if wearer is less than 4 feet 7 inches tall. Do not use without a lap belt.- Top

Re: Seat belt belt and shoulder harness tag question on a 70
Reba or anyone, Ssnake oyl tells me that starting in 1973 all shoulder harness labels were the slick paper and that prior to that they were mixed cloth or paper. I am interested is what is correct for 1972. At Kissimmee, mine which are paper, sewn on by Ssnake oyl were questioned. I have asked them to ship me the cloth versions. Anyone know which is correct for 1972? thanks- Top

Re: Seat belt belt and shoulder harness tag question on a 70
Unless Ssnake oyl has changed their methods the stitching to sew on the labels is twice as many stitches as original. Thread used is not cotton. The ( Imporant ) labels also don't look anything like original labels. All of which could be deductions on restored belts.Lyle

Re: Seat belt belt and shoulder harness tag question on a 70
This is the description in the present JG:
Date and manufacturer codes are on a tag of thin white silk-like material sewn to both belts near the anchors. Sometime during 1972 production (probably with the change to C15), this tag material became a thicker paper-like fabric. Service replacement belts and reproductions are this latter material.
Since we are collecting data for the next revision, this might be a good time to work on when the change occurred. I bought a used belt dated in March for my early 1972 and it was the latter material. Maybe someone has a name for this material; it is not truly paper but not cloth as we think of it.- Top

Hi,
Here are the labels from my 71. I think they show the 'silky' fabric, stitching, printing, and stamps pretty well.
