Are the studs on these cars (1958) supposed to be black phosphate or zinc/cadmium?

If you're talking about the 3 studs that retain the forward exhaust pipe to the manifold, I believe they were NATURAL finish (i.e. no finish). This was a really dumb thing for GM to do, but that's what they did.
As I mentioned previously, I recommend stainless steel. These appear like original and REMAIN appearing like original. So, what about judges with magnets? Who cares?In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
