Good question, just looked at it and looks like a VERY thin layer of quick set epoxy, been there about 4 years, nice and aged looking now. Memory is not doing as well as the car! Apply with tooth pic and a steady hand.

Maybe I should................... after thinking about it I will well enough alone just the container and cap is it.

      Paul,

I would never pay that much. I would wait until I could find one at a swap meet for $5 or less. Some restorers buy original GM parts just to get additional "points" in Corvette shows. Some restorers buy original GM parts because they just do NOT want reproduction parts (in other words, fake parts). I guess some restorers can not wait 10, 20, or 30 years to find a NOS part at a swap meet so they spend big money for little parts. It also helps the economy.

Some restorers won't live long enough to wait 10, 20, or 30 years to find a NOS part.

But it's the thrill of the hunt that makes life interesting. Once I find a rare NOS part (at a low price) I just put it in my collection with the rest of my parts and then go hunting again.

I spent a day and a half at Corvette Carlisle looking for about a dozen fasteners. At that time they were not being repro'd and flea bay had not had any listed for over 90 days.

And people wonder why it costs so much to restore a car. You can pay for flea bay parts or you can pay the labor to find NOS or high quality used parts. At the end of the day, the money is about the same on most parts

I'm a firm believer that no one should pay very much for a part. If they do, they should be excommunicated and after 30 days of ridicule...hanged.

If I go to Carlisle and only buy one extremely rare NOS part for $10 the real cost is about $300 (gas, motel, entry fee, food, etc.).

I bought a tripower solenoid bracket at Carlisle one year for $3,400.00. Then I had my expenses which included $0 for air fare, $150 for the hotel, $150 for food and then $4,962.22 for beer.

                  It all adds up...

                    Mark,
Was that then when you were excommunicated? after 4922 of beer?

After I bought the part they started preparing the noose. After they found out what I sold it for plus how much beer I bought, I was acquitted.

Just wondered Dan did you use the "vented super glue" so the washer would work for the OPS??

The washer tube is one of the items I dumpster dive for when I hit the local junk yards. Usually end up bringing one or two home.

Yup. I've brought several brass screen filters home from early 70s GM cars for less than one dollar a piece.

Okay, How about this one? He says he has no problem keeping them, "they are like gold". I'm guessing it is good that he is okay with keeping them.
