This is a somewhat later version of the CV-202 valve. The original valves had a black phosphate finish but after a relatively short period of time that changed to a zinc or cadmium finish. That's what this valve has, although it's somewhat deteriorated. Otherwise, the earlier and later valves are identical. I have NOS examples of both [none for sale].

I don't think the "1063-22" represents a date code. If it does, the zinc-finished valve I have was made on the same day as this one because I have an identical code on my box.

The 6421785 was a supercessive part number but it was configured differently than the 5646178.
Along these lines do any of you know if this tag was affixed to a 60,61,62 or ? Chevrolet and/or Corvette.
I've had it for years and wondered if was a California related item.

I've never seen one of these before so I don't know what vehicles it was originally included with. Very likely, it was all Chevrolet vehicles equipped with PVC at the beginning of the "PCV era".

The cleaning instruction are nostalgic for me. When I worked in a Chevron gas station during the latter part of my high school days, we used to disassemble and clean these valves as part of vehicle service (i.e. lube and oil change). This was about 1963-65. However, the valves that were designed for disassembly and cleaning disappeared not too long after that time and were replaced by the type of valve that cannot be disassembled. So, I would say the instruction card you show had to be from about the 1961 to 1965 period.

PVC came to California before the rest of the country. I believe it started in California in 1961 but didn't become nationwide until 1963.

I remember doing the same cleaning at the Sunoco station in the 62 or 63 time frame. Oh....the good old days. Also curious to me is the 12-17-59 date on the tag. I always thought PCV was introduced in 1961 or so.

The cv-693 valve looks just like the cv-590c. I am convinced that the CV-202 valve would be the one. I believe that the 5649561 valve is actually the cv-202 valve with a different part number.
