        Joe,
Here are some more old numbers: they are the same for 1956 and 1957.

        Venetian Red DuPont--2415-H, R & M--56V52R, Ditzler--DAL 70694

        Polo White DuPont--1783-H R & M--54V91, Ditzler--DAL 8011

As you know these numbers are pretty useless as are old original formulas, due to the fact that the colorants and other materials are no longer in existence.

I had Savage KOI cross reference Venetian Red and the pint they mixed was no where near what I percieve as the original color.

I ended up painting the car with DuPont ChromaBase #44128K which is a National Fleet Color called Bright Spitfire orange.

I choose the color from the Color Map book which was supplied by Sikkens.

If you want to look at the Color Map book give me a call.

I recently saw a '57 in a collection in Massachusetts that was Venetian Red. The owner expalined that he couldn't find or match the original color to his satisfaction until he found a Ford paint color called "poppy". He claims it to be a dead-on match for Venetian Red.

            Joe,
The paint I used was a base coat formula and I am not sure if it is available in a single stage, assuming thats what you need.

I am looking for red for interior and white for outside. I thank all who have replied and will probably need to get something scanned to see how close I can get.

11/29/55 Chevrolet bulletin shows 1783-H (Dupont stock #, complete with footnote noting it as a "Repeat from previous production"; it also shows 2415-H as "Venetian Red" BUT this carries a footnote that reads "Good match to Standard - release for use ONLY in touchup".
Dupont letter dated 12/14/55 repeats the information above to Dupont shops.
