Question for NY residents.
Is it against the law to have a window sticker other than a state inspection sticker?
Is it against the law to have a license plate frame?
If so, who concocted this nonsense.

I feel sad for anyone living in **** type states like ca, ny or other eastern cities with annoying laws such as smog laws etc. of course by 2 cents and texas has license fame law, front plate law and some counties smog laws so guess we all have to pay in one way or another

I may be mistaken, but I believe they will find that when one originally joined NCRS they sent you a sticker with your welcoming letter. Later, when you renewed your membership during the 25th anniversary of NCRS they sent the 25th commemorative sticker along with the silver commemorative booklet about NCRS. Then years back when they added the extra bonus points for battery disconnect, fire extinguisher and NCRS sticker they started offering them from the NCRS store. If you bought a new car you would want to purchase one to place on your windshield for the extra judging points. As the meet/activities chair for the Delaware Valley Chapter, who takes in the registrations I always order a few extra stickers. I keep them on-hand for registration check-in to give to first-timers who are unaware of the extra bonus points...to simply help them feel a little more at ease about their first judging experience.Last edited by Elaine R.; July 23, 2011, 06:49 PM.Comment

Elaine, When I joined my car did have any glass in it. (thats the way it was when I bought it) So not having a place to put the decal I put it up somewhere and am sure I will never find it. Where ever that place is has sure got a lot of my valuables there. I have never been to an NCRS event but hope to get to one before I expire. Mike

Virginia has same law, no other decals on windshield except town, county decal that is being discontinued, but you still pay the fee on personal property tax bill instead. SteveComment

Hi George, License plate frames are OK in NY as long as the frame doesnt cover the lower part of the license plate, where the type of plate it is, ie: passenger/ commercial. License plate covers that shield red light cameras angles are also a NO NO. Every car dealer in NY puts license plate frames on, in fact a caddy dealer took off my selling dealers frames (front and rear) and replaced them with his when I had it in for service. As for the 35 years stickers, I was told by Eric Mortimer that NCRS has decided not to issue them. Instead he gave me a couple of the current decals.Comment
