Lower A arm bumper bolts & nuts

The JM says that the lower a arm bumper bolts are attached with black phosphate bolts. Some of the corvette suppliers sell zinc bolts with all metal lock nuts. Others sell bolts with regular nuts and a lock washer (though I don't see a lock washer in the AIM. Lastly, I have some zinc bolts with M headmarks and some with an indented hex with a G headmark. Which if any (all?) of these configurations is correct for a 65 produced in Dec 64? Thanks!

Mike it helps to use the part numbers from the aim, but short story is if the JG say black phos then you know what the chop shops are selling is wrong.

Then you have to tell us if these parts you have a grade 8 with the M?

Mike. the original bolts are black phos with indexed heads and washer. If memory serves me correctly, the washer is captured. A cad bolt is incorrect.

The bolts and nuts don't look like black phos in your photo.

I prefer those offered by Long Island (part no 49-12).

You are very unlikely to find a big box parts store with the correct parts. LIC is probably the closest, but for sure not a guarantee. Have you tried to get cleaned and phos-ed originals?

Thanks again Tony and Ron, I will get the ones from LIC. Unlike the 69, my 65 has been restored (mediocre job) at some point in the past and I don't know for certain which parts are original.

Mike before you purchase these, please list the PN so members can verify the finish. My apprehension is that since your car is still early, (somewhat) left over 64 bolts may have still been around. (The 64 were not black)

I thought these bolts were Grade 2, are they supposed to be Grade 8?

To verify we're talking about the same part, this bolt (screw assembly) is called out on UPC 3-A3, Item 10, 3784302 Screw Asm.

I checked the AIMs, and the same part number for the control arm Bumper bolts (GM #3784302) is called out from 1963 through 1968.
