    Terry,

AIM's are available from the NCRS Store.

The AIM's are down close to the bottom of the page.

AIM - Assembly Instruction Manual. The instructions for putting your car together, kinda like the instruction sheet for a plastic model, only bigger.

The A.I.M. (Assembly Instruction Manual) is a bit of a misnomer, really a Product Description Manual. As such, it contains much assembly information, but, the manual is divided in sections per the Uniform Parts Classification (UPC).

The upshot is, it is sometimes difficult to find the information you are looking for. Most vendors also sell an AIM INDEX specific to each year - an index will help a lot.

Every A.I.M. has an index built in, if you know how to use it; here's a link to an article on understanding the Assembly Manual:

If one works with or around the GM parts system long enough the parts group system becomes second nature. Back when parts books came as books the good counter persons could open the parts book to the group they wanted on the first try. The computerized system has eliminated the need for that skill, but they still need to know what group covers which area of the car. Keep using the AIM and you will get the hang of it.

                  Terry -

And, for whatever reason, the GMPD/GMSPO parts guys never talked to the Engineering guys when they set up their "Group Number" system; the only parts Group number whose content matches the Engineering UPC Group number content is Group 5.00 (brakes), and brakes are split between Group 4.00 and 5.00.

Yes, one of the dumbest things they ever did.
