Re: 67 Steering Gear Lube
The "special" GM Corvette steering gear grease in discontinued, and in its absence, I recommend a full synthetic NGLI #2 grease. Valvoline offers one - check their Web site, but then you have to find a retailer who stocks it.

Re: 67 Steering Gear Lube
The Saginaw engineers always told me to use a good grade of lithium based chassis grease.
Gary Ramadei is now using Costal Uniplex premium, high temperature, lithium complex grease in his Corvette steering gear rebuilds. At one time he did use Mobil 1 synthetic grease but has gone back to the lithium based type. I don't remember why he changed.

Re: 67 Steering Gear Lube
Jim------
The grease that GM originally specified for use in 63-82 Corvette steering gears was GM #1052084. That product was discontinued in May, 1997 and replaced by GM #12377985. The latter product remains available from GM and that is what I recommend. This product can also be used for most other chassis lubrication applications except wheel bearings, so it's a true "multi-purpose" lubricant. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 67 Steering Gear Lube
I have used Lucas Red and Tacky, it has a 540* drop point so it's good around exhaust manifolds. Good Stuff..- Top
