Dallas Transmission Shop Recommendations to Work on 67 Powerglide

Anyone have a recommendation of a transmission shop in Dallas to work on a my 67 Corvette's powerglide?

It's likely a combination of jammed/bent internal shift linkage, which occurred when I (whilst on jack stands) had the car running in gear, and shifted from reverse into park without hitting the brake (I was tired and not thinking).

I had the car back up on jack stands this morning to get a look at the external linkage. I decided to leave bad enough alone and get help.

Given the close quarters, the shift control lever rod being in backwards (based on the 63 shop manual and supplement, the clevis end is supposed to be at the bell crank transmission end, and mine's on the other end at the shifter), and visualizing the difficulty I may have putting things back if I tear into it and don't end up unjamming/fixing it myself, I just said nope.

Anyway, I am looking for recommendations better than the yellow pages of a transmission shop in Dallas, if anyone has one.

Second question: I see lots of sources for the external linkage online, but not the internal parking pawl, shift and parking actuator assembly levers--are those available anymore and from whom?

    Thanks.

What exactly seems to be the malfunction? No Park?
I'm in Mesquite. I build transmissions all day..have been for 30 years. If you cannot get someone closer to you, P/M me, and we'll see if we can get you back in business. Parts will not be a problem, assuming this is an aluminum 'Gluide. If it's a cast iron 'Guide, that might make it a bit tougher both for parts, and the repair.

It now will only shift from park to reverse (reverse does works); cannot shift into neutral or drive. Sent you a PM.

Here's a second on Joel. Nice work at a reasonable price.

Funny you should say that--that's where I took it; towed over this morning and back in my garage today. The explanation was a bit fuzzy, because Jeff didn't work on it. Near as I can figure, some spring on the inside was knocked out of position and was preventing the shifter from going past reverse. They put it back in position, new pan gasket and trans fluid (Dextron III), and done. Jeff said the pan was very clean, no shavings or anything, and said come back in about 100,000 miles to have it rebuilt. Neither he nor I will live that long, I suspect.

BTW, Jeff doesn't own it--Lee's the owner and Jeff still works there. He works on lots of 'glides, for the local Chevy car clubs. Good guy and some neat cars--69 z28, Viper truck and other toys.

And they have various parts on hand, including cases for aluminum powerglides sitting on shelves, plus a ton of work space so my car was never outside. Added bonus, they stayed a few minutes after 6 pm (I was stuck in traffic getting there). Nice guys.

The Hagerty roadside assistance plan covered the tow, and all I am out is the cost of a normal transmission service and some time, and I was planning to have the transmission fluid and filter replaced anyway.

Now, next weekend I can (hopefully) get the parking brake working, which was what I was working on when I had my brain dead moment.

Carr's was helpful too--trouble is they're about a month's wait, but they said call Jeff, which I did.

Well, now I've got a good transmission shop figured out.

Good to hear! I figured it would be something fairly simple. Glad they took care of ya!
