Could it be that someone contacted the seller directly and made a ridiculous offer?
Or could it be that the seller had accomplices running up the bid hoping to catch some dupe in the frenzy and draw a large real bid out of them? With the bidding active and the price already way up past what could be considered more than reasonable for this car, I have to wonder why the item would be pulled if this was legit bidding. Why not ride it out and see just how far it will go?

Anyone bidding that money could do a real quick search and see they could get a whole lot more for a whole lot less money.
I think you're closer that friends were juicing the bid up, no real buyers emerged and the car was removed. it wouldn't be the first time that happened.
