I've searched for past posts and found them all interesting. I came across a NOS # 40658 . It is a type that has screws on the bottom with a metal tab that had the number on it. All others are the pressed on type. When did the pressed on start. My car is a March 68 build. Thanks jeff

Jeff------
If you came across an AC type 40658 that had any screws on it, then you came across a fuel pump that was incorrectly stamped or incorrectly boxed. I know of NO AC type 40658 that ever had any screws used in any part of its construction, external or internal. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Correct AC Fuel Pump 40658
In January 1994 I bought 4 NOS AC fuel pumps (for $5 each but not in boxes) stamped "DI 40658" on the flange ("DI" = April 1969) at the Corvette swap meet in Cypress Gardens, FL. The person that I bought them from had no idea of their application because he did not have any Chevrolet parts catalogs. They are the non-rebuildable type without the screws.
AC # 40658 = GM # 6417337, correct for 1968 Corvette (327) and 1969 Corvette (350) models.
GM # 6417337 was discontinued in August 1971 and replaced with GM # 6470110 (AC # 40709).
Jeff,
I assume that your NOS 40658 pump is an aftermarket pump without the "AC" casting.
