Actually, no. '69 Boss 429, '69 Z-28, and '66 GT-40 for starters, a few furrin' funny name cars, a Cadillyac, a few mundane cars, and a couple of trucks done on different appraisals in the last couple of weeks. No rams or mayflowers though.

Believe most MoPars are also off

HEMI's have dropped - winged superbirds are way down - RR's & GTX's also off from 3 years ago

'68-'69 Super Bees and NICE '68-'69 Chargers with RT or RT/SE package are holding their own for some reason.

Some nice Dodge "A" bodies with 340 still seem to bring a preminum.

Example Blue 1967 GTX with original HEMI A/T, P/S, PDB, White Buckets with console was purchased in 2006 for $100K+ and sold this fall for $88K as owner wanted '11 GS C6 - tried to trade him my C5 but he just laughed

As a whole the real good cars are still fairly strong, it is the cars with excuses such as provenance, paint, etc that are way off. When you do appraisals, you find recent sales, throw the highest as lowest out (that way you discount flukes) and come up with an opinion of value.

My observation has been the tri-five Chevys have held their value better than anything I've seen in these past two years....

Interesting that a 1959 Corvette custom sold for $113,300 and a 2008 Top Flight 1959 Fuel Injected 4 Speed sold for $85,800 with commissions.
I would have thought it would have been the other way around..

I don't even want to think about the five 12-cylinder Ferraris I bought and sold in the 70's...

When you watch these auctions, there's a lot of gray hair. I'm wondering what will happen with collector value of the 50's and 60's cars, that we covet today, once we either pass on or get too old to enjoy and drive them? I'm guessing that time is not that far off.

My grand father was a Model T man. In fact he restored one of 3 remaining 1911 Model T Torpedo Roadster, the 2 seater sports car of the day. Found it in a corn field in 1957 and now, I believe, it is in the Ford Motor Company museam. When he was moving into a retirement community we auction of he stuff. Boxes of wierd looking bolts, washers and shims would even bring the minum $1 bid, so they ended up at the scape metal yard.
It goes back to what you drove when you were 16, or what you wanted to drive. I'm glad I'll be dead when Honda Civics are the hot ticket at Barret Jackson.

Whats really sad to me is that the many of these cars will never see the light of day again and many will not be seen by the public. How soon do you think it will be before we see the "last Sting Ray" again, but thats the owners right. We enjoy them for our own reasons.

Watch what the guys without gray hair are buying. They're buying resto mods. While stock configurations ebb and flow in value, resto mods always seem to go for more. I'm concerned that our hobby will follow the path of the pre WWII cars, and become platforms for modification only. Stirring up interest and appreciation is difficult in the younger crowd because they have very limited exposure to these cars.

Problem is when you are young the quest for speed and power, as well a the audio signature, is overwhelming. And the cars we modified were not collectors at that time. Ask me how I know. I ruined a pristine 54 Corvette in those days. -Dan-

I definitely think that the resto mod movement will grow in popularity as time goes on. That being said, I still think that there will always be people who want a great NCRS award winning car too.

It is a shame that a hot rod is worth more than a vintage car. I have observed this for years in the antique car hobby. Your mass produced cars of yesteryear have way more value as a hot rod.

I was there and actually bought the 67 maroon roadster. It has it's original motor and real window sticker and POP. It is definately a driver, no NCRS blue ribbon winner, but I have 2 gorgeous 67 coupes and figured I couldn't get hurt at the price. Besides, I live 9 miles from the auction so I had no shipping charges, just drive her home. It was an honest car, paint had some bubbles, door fit was just ok. 2 tops, add on side pipes and the motor sounded really healthy. Original door panels, dash, seats, jack, etc...I will clean it up with simple elbow grease and have fun doing it and drive it a lot.....Regarding any other of the vettes at the auction, let's just say I wasn't raising my hand much (or at all).....ARA

C1's overall seemed to do fairly well in comparison to the C2's.
