The original screws were flanged, hex head and of 5/16-18 thread size and 3/4" length. They were phosphate-finished.
Thanks Joe. That's what I remember on the head design. (flanged/washer head)

          Gary -

Photo below shows all three shifter levers ('64-'67, '68-'76, '77-'81), aligned by the pivot shaft hole.

              Dave,

What head mark did you have for this screw?

I think quite a few early production cars were changed over to the new design in service because of complaints of shifter buzz.
                hi guys,
i looked at a 66 march 28 car today at a queen city chapter judging school. it had the shifter bracket. i was curious to this and and went looking in the archives.

                take care,

                  Ron,

I finally found my other shifter bracket screw (UPC 6-B6, item 12, GM 9419402) it was hiding in a box where I stored the old service replacement alternator, screwed into one of the alternator mounting holes. It's the same as my other shifter bracket screw, indented hex washer-face/flange-head, no grade marks, no normal headmark, just an odd circular mark that is not very distinctive.

I recognized it immediately, couldn't believe I'd found it

                    Michael,

Here's one from a '67, I just found the matching bolt a month or two ago, it's the same as this one:
