My 11yr old son loves the hell out of '56 like no other car he has been around. I hope he one day grows to love it as I do!

Some will, most won't because they were not teenagers when the vette was new.

I hope so because it already belongs to him.

I agree with you Rich. How many grandkids will turn a wrench to keep them on the road? Mayby it would be best to just sell our Corvettes to someone that has to spend their money to buy it and perhaps take care of their investment.

I hope my son likes the car enough to keep it. Well, EITHER son (I've got two boys). Josh is 3 1/2, and Lucas is 8 months old. When I stop driving in another 30-35 years or so, they can fight over it. I just hope ONE of them keep it....assuming we still have gas in 35 years.

My son Jake who is now 8 years old is a grandchild in the sense that before my father passed away a few years ago we all enjoyed the Corvette hobby. I'm hoping that when he grows up he'll be a third generation NCRS member and will most likley get the opportunity to buy my first car, the red '64 convertible I bought as a basket caseat age 17, my 90% original green '65 coupe that I help work on as a young boy back in the mid 70's and maybe the '08 Z06 that we went to pick up together when new.

He's not quite at the age that his attention span keeps him interested for long, but I'm hoping to start taking him to some events in the years to come.

I wrote a Restorer article about this back in 2005 but it didn't get published. Maybe a re-write/resubmittle is in order.

                Regards,

I have a 23-year-old daughter who is crazy about my C2's. She obviously wasn't a teenager when these cars were new, but she has insisted I leave the cars to her when I die. No, she can't turn a wrench, but I have given her the sources (people) who can. No grandkids here yet.

I have no grandchildren ,but I do have two adult boys.Neither one gives a hoot about Corvettes. One of them once said there's no car made in America worth a S--t, must have been something he learned in Collage.
I'll probably leave my cars to the animal shelter, at least they'll appreciate them.

Stephen, I love animals! My five grandkids can be little animals, but whenever they are visiting I take them for a ride in the 62.

My two twin sons, now 45, grew up in my 63. With the adjustable seats, I had the passenger side up to the max and both could sit in it side by side when they were small and we'd go for rides. My one boy took interest in the work we did on it back in the 70's as he was able to put up with my bad temperment as my assistant, I guess. The other boy was smart and preferred washing dishes and helping his Mom with house work. Today, the boy that took interest, is an NCRS member and currently owns an 08 Pace Car. He has also had 3 1978 Pace Cars and a 96 Grand Sport. The other boy owns 2 recycled U.S. steel cars (1 Asian and 1 German) and has no interest in cars much at all. They each have a son and a daughter, all smart as whips, but only the youngest boy still seems to like cars - wants to be a race car driver.

My NCRS son says I should enjoy the heck out of my car and not to think about preserving it for any of our grand kids or, as he puts it; the family interest in our Corvettes will stop with him. I tend to agree.

My 2 1/2 year old granddaughter talks about my atomic orange 07 and wants to ride in it every time she comes to our house. I put the car cover on my Nassau blue 66 and when she came she said, "Pops blue car is covered up"
