1966 Spare tire lock and keys

I need a spare tire lock, and new keys coded for judging. Does anyone have any suggestions who I can talk to? I got a price from a vendor and it seemed very high. Thanks for any info. Larry.....

    Larry,

Only one guy to start with in my opinion....Peter Lindahl (6598).

Pete just redid my locks and keys and he was an absolute pleasure to deal with.

Perform a search and I think you will see many positive comments.

    Good luck!

    Todd

Peter Lindahl did my keys and spare tire lock and would recommend him without question. Very knowledgable and a pleasure to deal with. Hard to find those two attributes together these days...

Here is another vote for Peter Lindahl. He did my 66 locks and keys and for a very reasonable price. Remember the 66 spare tire lock is a one year item only I believe all others are different.

I know Peter but didn't know he did locks and keys. I just paid a fortune for a NOS 66 tire lock and keys from a driveline advertiser. $450.00 Wish I had know.

I too have used Peter for a lock and correct keys and think he's one of the best men in the hobby. If you want another great guy who will treat you right, you can try Gary Beaupre. I believe he is also doing locks and keys. Check the archives or Driveline for contact info.

Yes it's robbery---but I wanted and needed them and I foolishly paid it. He charges $75.00 per coded key.

Another vote that you get a hold of Pete L. He helped me out with my 68 locks and did a great job. He can do what you need I am sure. Real nice guy too.

Pete's the guy for locks, w/s wipers & arms etc. I've been using him and judging 66's with Pete for years. You won't find any better!!

I bought a used spare tire lock for my 67 at Carlisle years ago. The key didn't match my car so I took the lock apart and filed down the tumblers so that my current key (or any other) would work....works perfectly

Why didn't you just take it to a locksmith and have him install new tumblers to match your key?

I agree, kind of defeats the purpose of a lock, now that any key will work.
But, just having a lock on might deter most would be thieves, kind of the dummy lock theory. I vote for going with Pete L. and have the thing done right. He is super reasonable with his pricing, and does not waste time. He is not looking to get rich off others in the hobby. The only way to go.
