    C1 brake line installation question

I'm installing the brake lines on my 60 restoration. I am using the BTW steel lines.

I have read on other threads that I should tighten-loosen-tighten the fittings to get them to seat good.

My question is how tight do I tighten them to try and make sure I don't have any leaks?

I'm primarily talking about the fittings into the wheel cylinders and into the brass blocks, etc, and I am using a proper line wrench.

    Thanks,

    Don

I,ve replace a few lines on my 59. Master to brake block and right rear line. All I did was to make sure they we tight with no movement. So far no leaks after a number of years. SS lines are a pain if they don't seat properly the first time.

I have replaced the lines on 2 of my 62s using steel lines with no problems. Just use the proper tools and make them TIGHT.
On my 57 I used SS lines with DOT 5 silicone fluid. Had a few leaks but after tightening a few times absolutely no leaks after 3500 miles.

        Thanks,

I going to use Dot 5 also. But not SS line. I figure the BTW will out last me a few time over. Plus this will not be a daily driver, but I do plan to drive it.

          Donald,
Good decision on the lines and the DOT5.
I have had great performance from the DOT5 in a few cars and I like the fact that it is not a paint remover.
