    1967 Instrument Panel Knobs

    Hello to All,

I am a new member, also new Corvette owner (1967 327), this is my first post.

I have a question on the instrument panel knobs. I have learned that in 1967 the Corvettes changes to the "mushroom" style knobs.

Yet on my '67 all knobs are the '66 style except the wiper switch (mushroom) and the radio (aftermarket).

Is it possible that some '67 cars came with the '66 style knobs? Or more likely that a previous owner installed the '66 style knobs on the headlights, lighter, and HVAC contols?

    Build date is April 1967.

    Thanks,
    DAP

Congratulations on your purchase of an ultra rare big block delete car.

    IMO the knobs should match.

      Don,

Thanks for your response. But you say the knobs should match. Do you mean they should all match and be "mushroom" or is it possible the car received all '66 style from the factory on a '67?

      Build date is April 1967.

      Thanks again!

PS: I like the "big block delete" option. Never thought of that!

      Sincerely,

      DAP

        David -

They should all be the "mushroom" style (mandated by federal MVSS regulations for 1967), and your car would not have come from the factory with any 1966 knobs.

David, my March 1967-built, never restored .... barn-find '67 had/has "mushroom" dash knobs.

          Great car you have,
          Ridge.

Thanks to all for your answers, that answers it.
I do wonder why the HVAC, headlights, and lighter controls have ended up with the '66 style? I guess there could be a lot of reasons over 44 years!

Ridge, sounds like you have a great car too!

              Dave,
As John answered, all will the mushroom 67 style.

I too have a 67 big block delete, with a big block delete hood.

It was assembled in late April with a final assembly date of May 5th.

Welcome to the NCRS! Drive it and enjoy the ride.

Some had no option code because it was a BB delete. Mine has an equally rare BB delete code of L79 and is stamped HT

Ronald, I guess you missed the "tongue in cheek" of my request for codes on a "delete" big block......

No, inverted it, BB delete to SB delete, as you say tongue in cheek..

but then would that make it a BB not ordered?

BB not ordered is correct, but as that thread discusses, BB's in the car...

I bought my '67 new and all knobs are of the mushroom type. I like the BB delete deal but do have the BB hood after running into a truck.
Dan O: my serial # 17534 started down the line on April 19 taking delivery May12th in Zone 13. Just wondered how close our cars were in that line?
