67 T-Shaped Wiring Loops Location on Firewall

    Hey Everybody,

Was going over my car and realized that it only has only four of the required six T-shaped plastic loops along the firewall. Here is the description the JG gives:

"Six T-shaped plastic loops are located on the firewall, two secure the washer hose to the hood release cable (judge in washer system section) and two per side simply tie the harnesses together and to the hood release cable."

So, I would like someone to clarify this for me and if possible show pics of where each of the T-loops are located along the firewall and describe exactly what they are looping around. I know that is kind of a tall order, but I would like to get this correct the first time around.

    In general:

    1. Do the two washer hose T-loops just loop the washer hose to the hood release cable and have nothing else in the loop?

    2. For the remaining 4 harness T-loops, what all do they have in them and does it EXCLUDE the washer hoses?

Anyway, hope someone can set me straight on this. I have a 1967 327/300 hp car.

    Thanks

    Kirk

Kirk, pages 223 & 290 in the assembly manual is reasonably clear on these locations.
the AIM only shows 3 plastic T-loops (mine has 4)
the 2 washer hose T loops clip to the release cable and mine also carries the red power wire to the relay on the drivers inner gaurd.
the other 2 clip around the 2 lots of wiring harness and the hood release to the passenger.
my car is also a67 / 327-300,however it has been restored so my locations are only how my car is at the moment, get an AIM if you dont already have one, cheers

So why does the JG say there are 6 when you guys have 4 and 5 respectively? Thanks for the pics, they help.

Any judges out there? Should it be six total or 5 total or 4 total? Thanks.

Still waiting for some judges to chime in. Should add more straps or not? Is there any reason the number of straps would change based upon AC in a car?

            Kirk -

A/C doesn't affect the straps. They're split between UPC 1 and UPC 12 in the Assembly Manual; if you poke around in those two sections, you'll find six of them, as noted in the JG.

              John,

I have looked at them and can't seem to come up with 6 total. Nor does it exactly say what goes in each loop. I will look at them again tonight.

IIRC I went with 5 because of the AIM. BTW my car was judged 5 Xs with no issues regarding T straps.

Page 247 of the assembly manual, shows one of the tyes, maybe the 3rd one from the left, not on the hood release cable or the harness, but with some electrical wires, not a clear picture, can someone tell me witch wires are correct, thanks.

i've seen 4 to 7 wire ties on 63 to 67 vettes. i believe the assembly line worker varied the # of loops per car. mike

                      Kirk,

If I understand correctly, the fourth Tie Strap (GM 9422033, UPC 12-A8, Item 21) is shown in the drawing, but has no "21" with a line pointing to it. On the AIM page below, I placed letters "A" through "D" in red over each tie strap. Letter "B" is directly over the corresponding tie strap, that's the one shown without a boxed number "21" with a line pointing to it.

                      The other letters (A, C & D) I placed directly over the corresponding "21".

If I have those four identified correctly, the other two (UPC 1ASM-D4, Item 7) are easy to spot, for a total of six.

Thanks Scott. Pretty much what I figured out a while back. There are two separate pics in the Aim that show these straps. If you place a strap at each point shown, it does total six.

My 67 only has five straps, I will get a picture later today and post as I don't believe they have ever been fooled with.
