    Gentlemen, start your engines

Has anyone ever written up a procedure of what would be required if anyone wanted to run their engine while the body was still off the frame?
I would like to be able to start my engine every once in a while until I am ready to drop the body back on.
What would be required in order to do this?
    Is this a bad idea?
It would be incouraging for me to hear it run again.
I would love to hear the new exhaust system.
Seems to me it wouldn't take much to make this happen.
    Any thoughts anyone?

    David,

I'm told there is a past restorer article on how to build a test box for such an event. It connects the ignition and temperature gauge along with oil pressure. Other than that, you need a way to cool it and fuel it. I'd also leave the driveshaft off to keep it from inadvertantly driving away.

I will do this before I drop my body too. In the event I need to go back into the engine, it will be an easier task.

Tracy, thanks for the help. I found the article.
Sounds easy enough. I think I'll try it.

Also, the latest issue of "On Solid Ground" from SACC has an article of a 54 being tested this way. If you don't have access to this send me a PM with your address and I'll send you a copy. Heck, because you're in the neighborhood I may even drop it off.
