    If they have had the yokes or the tube replaced, yes

      Thanks for the info. I am doing a trailing arm rebuild so I thought it would be a good time to clean up the half shafts and install new U joints.

        The half-shafts are not balanced because of their much slower rotational speed. New u-joints should not affect balance/performance of the half-shafts.

        The driveshaft is another story. I had mine rebalanced after replacing the u-joints. The replacement u-joints were significantly different and had more mass than the originals ones that I replaced. However, even then, the affect on the original balance was minimal.
