Working on my seat frames. After I get the sand and dirt out of the tracks, should they be lubricated? If so, what should I use? I'm replacing a few missing spring bushings, just not sure if they operate metal to metal, or get lubricated. Thanks

Re: 65 Seat Tracks
My understanding is no grease, etc. as that will get gummed up. Simply springs on metal.- Top

Re: 65 Seat Tracks
Sand in the tracks? Oooh, someone must have sandblasted it in the hope of restoration. Never sandblast your seat track mechanisms because it is almost impossible to get the sand out of the insides. Use phosporic acid to strip off the rust and then use a rotary wire brush, if necessary. You can then use a light coating of oil on the outside of the tracks to keep the rust off (or spray with clear paint). -Clark- Top

65 Seat Tracks; I believe they were greased
Richard,
When I restored the seat frames on my '66 I saw lots of evidence of 40-year old dried up grease in the tracks. I used chassis grease after cleaning, welding, restoring, etc., the frames/tracks when I put the tracks back into the tubes. I'm glad I did, since I love the way they slide.
