    Corvette Wrecks

Ralph sent me another PIC of a Corvette wrecked. Just like a Ford...it must've been the non-snow tire wearing Fairlane's fault.

MD, I'd have to politely disagree! It looks to me like the Corvette was going a little too fast and slammed into then under the Ford. Look at the dent at the rear of the Ford and the way the hood is buckled up on the vette. Also, notice the direction of the front tires on the 69.

Naw, naw, that can't be it! I'm thinkin' the Ford was in reverse and doing, approximately 100 mph, when he slammed into the Corvette...

That Boston Cop sure looks like he has the whole situation under control.

Dave, I think you're right. That's my wife's uncle. He was a cop in Boston in the 60's & 70's.

edit......BTW, it sure looks like the Corvette has chains on the snow tires too!

I had a 66 grey/black 300 HP 4 speed conv. that had snows on it from Nov to April. First requirement was they had to be studded and second was to wear earplugs. Oh...it had pipes too. And Donnally thinks 737's are loud. You could hear that corvette coming from a long ways away.

I almost bought a '71 in similar condition in a package deal several years ago. A soldier had big night out and a tree got in his way. It was a cherry ride except for the obvious. Fortunately for me, the excitement of the find faded and the reality of the potential return hit me and I walked.

Good ol' times. Winter 1969; skiing the Laurentians, north of Montreal Quebec. Two of my buddies (I was taking the pic). My '66 L36 coupe VIN 04166 is on the right. Yes, snow tires, and notice the hitch for a snowmobile trailer; a previous owner drilled the bumpers for the brackets. Other 'features' mild flares, green metalflake paint, factory N14 and K66.

Owned this car for a total of 4 months -- maintenance was eating my paychecks .

                        Wayne,
Forgot about the winters skiing in New Hampshire and the ski rack on the decklid. Lots of padding under the legs and it worked pretty good.
Also remember installing the studs in the snow tires one at a time with a pneumatic gun. Took awhile.
Now that all was a blast.

While on the subject of wrecked Corvettes...here is one a my favorites...or actually least favorites I suppose depending on how you look at it.

Jan Berry was 1/2 of "Jan and Dean" the Beach Boy like duo from the 60's. He sadly lived out the saga of one of his songs called "Deadman's Curve". Both Jan and Dean owned numerous Corvettes in the early to mid 60's. I'm sure some of them are still out there, although probably not this one.
