On the firewall there were 2 dimples for the tach cable. Non fuel cars use one (if memery serve me the right one) and FI uses the other (left one). It has to due with which side the tach drive is on on the distributor. Many cars oval out the whole so the dimple is no longer there. If it is there, it is concrete proof it is a fuel car. It is 62 only.

I saw one at Carlisle with FI markings and the owner said it was not a FI car. He was wrong and would not believe it.

Robert etal, Even if the front end of the 62 is missing you can if the Car was a fuel car or not just by knowing this firewall info.

Hi Doc, So once again you are a brut for punishment. Yeah but the 62 FI is one of the better ones as you well know. Get past the wild choke and you got it made. Better than Bruces favorite.

I think that I have some sort of fuel injection curse. I have had some sort of FI Corvette, sometimes more than one, for most of the last three decades. I just traded my 64 FI and thought that I was free at last. Not to be I guess. As soon as I dig out from this latest storm I plan to look for dimples on the firewall.

Snow is now shoveled. There are two holes in firewall for tach. Presently the cable from my mighty 327 from a 65 Chevelle goes through one on the passenger side. On the driver's side there is a 2" by 2" sheet metal plate that looks home made and is screwed onto firewall, presumably covering a hole where the FI tach cable went through.
