62 side radiator seals on 340hp

Would someone please post a picture showing the 2 side radiator seals?

I am trying to determine :
    1. How much rubber sticks out from the sides if any?
    2. I see the 3 holes in the support, but does the seal go completely from the top to bottom?

    Thanks,
    Tony

Can someone please post a picture showing this.

If possible I would also like to see the correct mounting hardware.

    Thanks,

    Tony

Can you post what you find out about radiator side seals on '62 340 HP cars?

I have my doubts on whether 340 cars got the side seals. The JG says they did. But the AIM seems to indicate that only 360 (FI) cars got the side seals.

So far I do not have much except for the AIM and JM and a few holes in my support that "I think" apply to this. I have conflicting info, where the JM states 4 clips on each side, and the AIM shows 3.

The '62 340hp cars did have side seals and special clips to hold them in place.

If its not a royal PITA to photograph, I'll post a picture.

I just took a look and with the grill installed, there really is no way to take a decent photo.

The seal runs from top to bottom. It's held in place by three rectangular clips, measuring about 1 3/4" by 3/4". The seal overlaps the radiator about 1/2"

Thanks Ed. That overlap of 1/2" is good. In the AIM section 582 sheet 8 (FI section) it has a diagram showing where the clips are, it was just unclear as to the actual overlap.

                Thanks

I have a picture of the seals on a 62 340 HP Corvette with 70,000 miles that I restored last year for the original owner. The picture is not very good but it is the only one that I could find that shows the seals. This 62 has been owned by the same man since new and he has documented every thing since new. I had Dave Heitzman come here when we started and we spent three days photographing and documenting this 62 before I restored the drivetrain and put new interior in. The paint is still original as most of the chrome. This car was judged last August at chapter meet and earned top flight. If you need more I could get a picture later of the seals.

                    Joe,

Thanks for the picture. I can "kind of" see the seals, and at least it gives me a general view of how far them go into the radiator area. Congrats on the car doing so well after the resto.. That is great!

                    Thanks,
                    Tony

I didn't want to watch the depressing news on TV so I took some photos that should help you out. As you can see in the photos d/s seal sticks out 1 15/16 and the p/s is 2". Both d/s and p/s seals are 15 5/8" long. I had to rotate the bottom photo to get it to upload. It's the p/s seal.

                          Erich,

Looking closely at the clips that hold the seals in in place, are they blacked out? I am just wondering if the seals were in place prior to the engine bay blackout process. If not, can you tell what the original finish was?

                          Thanks,

                          Tony

Finish on the clips was black to begin with. Black oxide?
