    Re: '90s vintage ZR1s

Since we are on the subject of ZR1's......... Just yesterday I finally added one of the 1989 Master Technician awards to my ZR1 memorabilia collection. Been looking for one of these for a long time. One of my shop technicians eagle eyed one for me and snagged it this week. Pretty cool item awarded to service techs back in 89. Notice the LT5 engine.

Tom, that is the Holy Grail of LT5/ZR-1 collectibles! Those sell for almost the price of a 90 ZR-1 on ebay (well not quite but the go for big $$). That, a complete ZR-1 Tool set, and a complete and updated Tech I, will gain you the admiration of all the ZR-1 cult members!

      Great find...

Hey Eric ! I am for sure a ZR1 cult member. I still have my chocolate ZR1 emblems that I got in April of 95 during the "Legebd Lives" celebration at the plant in April of 95 !! These were in our goody bags.

I don't know why, but whenever there is a post about a C4 thhere is a medieval uprising about how bad these cars suck.
There is another C4 bashing thread on a different site also.
I just don't get it. Most every year Corvette was way ahead of any cars produced in there respective timeframe. All vettes have changed over time and technology always wins(go figure)
All vettes from the first one made To the last one that rolls off the line should be respected for what they are.
If we don't then the hobby will dwindle to nothing and we loose site of the big picture.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion about what gen is best and that's fine. Every year has had their problems, but so what! What cars don't . They are all cars that we all have a passion for, but sometimes we don't act like it.
What ever happened to "its not the cars, but the people"
And how many people still wave anymore..........come on people!!!!!!
          Save the wave

Right! Every time I am out driving my '67 I wave at all Corvettes of course. But, it seems anyone under 40 and driving a C5 or C6 just look at you like you are crazy. The tradition is going down the tubes with the new guys and gals.

              the only thing uglier than a C-6, is a C-4. Sorry.[/quote]

Sorry, I'm jumping in late on this thread but this quote was great.

C4's were GM's version of the 308 GTB. Seems like every car had to be a wedge-design back in the eighties. over a 100K miles on my 88 and I still love driving that thing!

the C-6 shape is dictated by what the corvette race team needed and the wind tunnel.

Nice wall paint! I would love to own one of the 90's ZR's. I think as time has gone by people forget how far advanced these were. They (IMO) put Corvette performance back on the map.

I bought my 92' ZR1 new, it now has 43K miles with no engine issues, and I won the ZR-1 Gathering drag races in 99' so it hasn't been babied, IMHO there is nothing better looking than the rear end view of a ZR-1, which is what most people see when I drive mine. Everyone talks about parts being
an issue, the engine is bulletproof all the accessories like water pumps starters, alternators etc. are readily avaliable, Buy the latest, nicest avaliable, stay away from the modified stuff (except LPE or Callaways) 92-
95 are more refined and better quality than the earlier ones but all are great cars.
