    John;

Wasn't that Cross-Fire just two Cavalier engines side by side? Ha?

    Thanks for the insight.

After my May 83 car was stolen in the big robbery I ended up with a lot of cross fire crap.
Look for it all in The Driveline someday. Later as I am goofing off and should be working. JD

A noted Chevy Performance writer (who Tom P. knows well) bought up the prototypes and parts some time ago. Have no idea what he will do with them, or if perhaps he has disposed of them already (not his style). How about it Tom? Do you know the disposition?

        Stuart,
He emailed me over a year ago inquiring if I was interested in his collection of FI parts. I said yes. He sent pictures and asked me to make him an offer. I asked him what kind of a price range was he looking for. After that, he never got back to me.
I got an email from him 2-3mo ago (sometime before Christmas) and he indicated he may be in the Okla City area soon. I invited him to stay with us while he was here. In that email, he VERY QUICKLY mentioned something about his FI stuff. Thus, I guess he still has the collection.
In my estimation, much of the stuff in his pictures has minimal value. Much of it is more for conversation pieces than for actual use.

for road race competition once holley came out with the center pivot float bowls that worked in the turns without cutting out the FI was not needed. holley came up with the le mans float bowls for ford GT and later the changed to the cathedral type we all are familiar with. i had to equip my 64 365 HP with the ford bowls to do track days because the side pivot float bowls would either flood or starve for fuel depending the the direction of the turn.

I don't care what a person says, or what a person has (on their car/engine), or what they do, there just ain't nothin' neater than a fine tuned Rochester FI unit. Ever notice how everone always gravitates to the opened hood of an FI car, but a car with anything else may only get a passing glance? Them ole FIs is just magic!!!

                Hey Tom,
Is that a real air box cleaner, or did you make it? Just wondering. You sure have a beautiful car. -Dan-

                  Dan,
That airbox was made for me. It was copied from a real airbox. A longtime friend was restoring an airbox car, and to keep the story short, I basically begged him to make one for me. The guy who did the fiberglass work for him made a mold from his airbox and cover, and then made the airbox from the mold. The guy made two airboxes, one for me and a spare for my friend. My friend made me swear that if he had one made for me, I'd never reveal the source. That was about 25yrs ago and I have, and will, remain silent to the source.
By the way, the FI unit is a highly modified hybrid unit (literally parts from 57-65 units) which has a plenum that was cut in half down the middle by Bill Thomas, heavily ported out, then welded back together and the welds ground down and are almost not detectable. The ram tubes INSIDE the plenum are completely removed.
By the way, you're one of the few NCRS people that likes the car.

Here are a couple more pictures of the airbox. Basically, it is spot on.

I highly agree and I too love your car. We had our first cruize of the year today with 65 degree weather. Nice bunch of cars and free burgers made for a great outing.

Hi Tom &Jim, So Thomas what's the PCV set up on your hot rod for?
Now as I recall in 62 the poor guys in CA had such a setup. Maybe earlier as I don't know.
If you want a 62 FI PCV fitting(or close to it) Tom just holler. It's 1/4" pipe and screws into the plenum. Then your PCV valve screws into the fitting. No charge. JD

                        Tom,
I don't think anyone in NCRS would say your car is not beautiful. You have taken some heat in the past for not being original configuration, but that is a different argument.
I do not want see this thread to get into another configuration argument, so please everyone, let this die. -Dan-
