      And a few more...

If there are any details that have been left out and you want more pictures let me know

And one question...I drained the tank of all that would drain but there is still a pint or so in the tank. Any reccomendations on how I can get the rest out? Because of the design of the tank you can't just dump it out without dissasembling the fitting. Thanks!!

Lynn, if you don't want to remove the filler neck, or the level meter, you'll probably have to either absorb it or vacuum it out.

By vacuum, I don't mean using a shop vac...you don't want to be mixing rich fuel vapors with any kind of electric motor driven applicance. I'm talking about using one of those Lisle vacuum bleeding tools that has a small plastic cup to catch the liquid. If you have this tool, just attach an extended inlet tube to insert into the tank. Clean the cup well after using with gasoline.

The shade tree method would be to simply attach a piece of cloth on the weighted end of a string; insert it in the filler neck and let it fall to the bottom corner of the vertical tank. Repeat until the gasoline is absorbed.

yeah i get the fuel vapor part. I want to get all the gas and fumes out so I can drop a camera in for some pics, not sure the fumes and flash will ge along real well. Everthing I can see looks mint, no rust, no dirt. If that's the case for the rest of the tank I might not replace it. thanks!

Lynn, I couldn't help but laugh when I read that. I know it wouldn't be funny, but I just pictured in my mind a guy with Bubba on a patch above his pocket doing just that. But Bubba has been worknog on his camera he got at the pawn shop and it won't flash. He pulls out his lighter and, well now you can see it too!!

That's the method I used..........but I didn't do it under any shady tree. Just stood out in the driveway in the sun..........
