Patrick, Is Paragon one of the companies that sells Quanta tanks? I was planning on putting one big order together once it's all taken apart.

      pics from my tank ---

Thre was blue printing it was a GM part number as well as a date....

Quanta makes the tank but without the blue stenciling on it.

What was left of my tank sticker was on the passenger side about 2 inches over from the filler neck.

Yes, Paragon sells Quanta tanks, at least for C1's.I purchased my tank from them because is was less expensive with their discount.

I asked when I was placing the order to make sure.

        Regads,

I replaced my gas tank with Quanta unit. When I removed the original tank I placed it next to the Quanta ad went over both for about 30 minutes to see if I could find any differences. I could not. To me they were identical.

FWIW: My 1970 had no tank sticker on it when I dropped the tank in 1972. I could see where it had been, but it was gone. I wish I knew where it went.
Terry did you save your window sticker? I found my 70's order form stuffed in the wiring behind the tachometer and my 68's order form behind the radio.

              Re: 1972 gas tank

              Hi,
Here's a picture of my 71's tank with the tank sheet still in place.
I've also posted 2 pictures of what I believe is the tank's part number label. It was located on the right vertical side of the tank. The last 2 numbers can just be seen.... 49. The part number for 71 tanks with return lines (and other years?) is 3967749.
              Regards,
              Alan

Same for my 1967 gas tank from Quanta. Virtually identical. The only differences were the Quanta tank's interior and exterior coatings were brighter/ more shiney, and the tank was not as rusty.

Quanta's is identical from what I have seen.

Any way there are sometimes other reasons why there may not be a tank sticker where its suppose to be.
Where in the frame rail? How did you get it out?

Keith, the frame rails are under the front doors there are a few holes along the bottom of frame and the mice had made a nest with my corvette order copy from the tank. good luck, you'll need a flash light to look into the holes.

Years ago, there was a slight difference in the weld seam joining the two halves.

Original tank weld seams had a "knurled" appearance, that is, the welding machine left a track of fine parallel lines in the weld. At the time, the reproduction tanks did not have the "knurled" weld seams since the original welding machines were long gone. It was the only tip-off in an otherwise perfect repro that I could see. How it is now, I don't know; I would be surprised if Quanta and their supplier would make additional investment to correct the minor difference.

They ate some of mine too but the only crums I found you had to pick up with tweezers. Lucky you they used the bigger pieces to build a nest.
They also ate my wireing and fiber optics

Lynn, When you get around to it, your pictures would be helpful.

                            Thanks for everybody's input

Wasn't able to get the tank down this weekend, too many distractions. I'm sure it will be down by the end of the week.

One thing that crossed my mind since my last post. My car is an LS-5 and yours an LT-1, are the tanks the same? I havn't checked. Either way I'll take the pics a soon as I am able.

No the two tanks referenced are not the same, but the only difference should be an extra port on the LS-5 tank on the passenger side for the fuel return line from the fuel pump. The LT-1 will not have that port. The tanks should be otherwise configured the same.
