    C2 glove box removal

Need to get to heater vacuum switch behind glove box on my '67 factory AC coupe. Couldn't find best way to remove glove box in archives. A lot of talk about difficulty in removing wire from glove box light though. Help for whole process appreciated.

William, the best way is to remove the small screws from the curved frame behind the glove box door, then the large philips screws in the cross member above the Vin plate. The whole thing will come out intact. You will have to cut the orange wire and resplice it later or put an quick disconnect in it. Removing it from the socket can be hard and damage may result to the socket. After you remove the small screws, lock the door to help prevent it from whacking you when you slide the assembly out. GOOD luck!

And don't forget to reattach the screw to the spring on the door.

Michael, you can remove the whole assembly, door and all, just be carefull not to let the door fly open and whack you. Once the wire has a 'connector' the next removeal is a five minute job!

AND, don't forget the orange wire is always HOT. Be careful or disconnect the battery!!!

Where do I cut the wire to the light? Is there enough slack so that I can cut it behind the liner when I get the assembly part way out so a splice won't show? Thanks

William, when loose, you can set the glove box in your lap/knees and see how much 'slack' there is. I cut mine about a foot back. I added some extra wire for convenience next time. It all hides up behind the box nicely.
