Very True, but nice to know you are looking at original body panels when looking for signs of holes being filled and the like...

Guys all great responses in trying to determine if a '65 was a real FI car or not. However, do not walk away from a car if you see holes for side flags. I have cast my eyes on an original '65 FI car with patched flag holes on an unhit body. The original window sticker with this car called out the Fuel Injection option.

VIN # 008 and VIN#009 are both in the Fuel Injection SURVEY. Both cars were made with both the cross flags and original fuel injection emblem. Vin 008 is an undamaged body. Instrument cluster is dated June 24, 1964.

So I believe that "some" 65 fuel cars were made with both emblems as in 1963 and 64.

True about the emblems, lots of cars got front ends from other cars. I know one fuelie with no emblems at all on a new front end.

Evidence of a steering dampener support bracket inside of frame.
That won't guarantee FI - but it can rule it out.
