    1958 with electronic tach.

I have a friend I am helping get his car finished and he forgot that the tach is mechanical. Any ideas on how to convert to electronic 8000 RPM?
    thanks for any help

As I recall, if the original tach is removed, a Sun (or similar) tach can be secured in the hole without cutting.

Autometer makes a nice 8000 rpm tach but the face has a distinct look.
      The same with Sun tachs.
If you don't mind the non-original look either one is a nice unit.
But check fit before buying, I hate to see the early instrument clusters cut.

I got my electronic tach from this company for my 245HP 1960:

They should be able to make a high RPM electronic tach that will look and fit like an original tach.

They were easy to deal with.
