Yes - the spread of the pilot units would include all configurations that were scheduled for availability at start of production.- Top

Nope - the photos cover many different Pilot units in various phases of assembly; they were taken by Richard Sudnick of GM Photographic in the spring of 1962.- Top

Bill all the tankers would be Z06 cars untill the option was seperated, the order to not included the tank in Z06 was in Dec 62. Also note in the last couple of photos, where the seats are being in stalled, the car is not a tanker, you can see the carpet in the rear of the car. Phil 8063- Top

This may be a JV question, but what became of pilot build cars? were they typically sold to the public/employees at the time or eventually scrap? It would be fun to see an All pilot build corral at some event.- Top

I still think that the car in Picture #73 was a tanker and guess now the first ever ZO6! They cut the hole in the aft bulkhead for the filler neck and you can see the filler neck on the floor plus they have installed all of the brackets and braces for the big tank! In picture # 73 the car was most likely a Black or Daytona Blue car where as the car in pictures #112 &113, where they putting the seats in, you can see the door edge and it is a light colored car, white or maybe silver? So I think its 2 different cars.Bill Lacy

Philip,Your right. I forgot that it was later that they offered NO3 as a separate option.
