Several are still in existence. Franz Estereicher (sp?) and Jerry Bramlett know quite a bit about the ones that are known.

The below list of known pilot cars is from 2006 with the exception of #9 which was added last year. I know the #15 has sold a time or two since 2006.

            VIN #3 conv California
VIN #9 coupe South Dakota (ours)
            VIN #13 coupe Connecticut
            VIN #15 conv Florida
            VIN #16 conv Alabama
            VIN #17 conv Alabama
            VIN #18 conv Alabama
            VIN #20 coupe California
            VIN #23 coupe London

I have a note from Franz that says: two ZO6 pilotline coupe's were built one was the Hooper Riverside Daytona blue/blue, the other was silver.

              Hi Deb,

              Also,
              VIN #21 Saddle Tan/Saddle FI 4spd Coupe.

I thought that Franz also had VIN #1 recorded? With A/C??
Do you or anyone else know the vin for the Z-06 cars?

Franz has #1 on his list but shows NOT CONFIRMED. It hasn't been located from what I understand.

And he has no name or state shown for the #21 so I didn't include it.

                  Deb,

#21 is out there. I think I saw it for sale about 5 yrs ago (though not in person).

What I found interesting about Saddle Coupe #21 is that the Body number is 14.
If I'm not mistaken, Coupe #23, the UK SO car for the London auto show is Body #13.

The body #'s do not allign with the VIN #. Our's is VIN #9 with body 6.

                      Deb -

Coupes and convertibles used separate body number sequences.

Convertible 867S100014 shipped to Canada; produced 08_20 according to GM Canada import records. Paint code 923A, Trim code 2490; delivered to dealer code 4300 [probably in the province of Manitoba].

When I had my Z06 we sent all of the information about it to a gentleman man by the name of Bob Jones. He was doing a survey on Z06's and at that time, around 1999, he had info on 49 of the big tank and 23 of the small tank Z06's. I don't know if he is still around or if he completed the survey.

Doug Hooper, the guy that drove the Daytone blue pilot line Z06 at Riverside, Ca in 62, told me decades ago that he remembered that there was a #10 on one of the trim or VIN plates. He didn't remember which, though, so that could have been the body number.

                              Helo i am new here
What i noticed the most is that the clips for the windshield trim was mounted on the birdcage before any fiberglass and paint was layed at all.

Those spots where the clips sits must be "rust spots" since they are mounted on bare metal

When John Amgwert first told me about these photos in 2004, He said they had been taken by "Donald Sudnick" of GM Photographic. For an unknown reason I began telling others the photographer was "Richard Sudnick" at some point after that. John Hinckley is probably just repeating what I said in error.

Although I never knew his last name was spelled "Sudnik", that's no excuse for calling him Richard.
