    Q. C3 Convertible Hardtop - 1968 vs 1974

Will a 1968 hardtop fit on a 1974? There is no middle/rear pin on the 1968 top or on the 1974 decklid.

Thanks Mike. Have you ever had or seen one shipped? I'm thinking Greyhound (distance is 275 miles). How is it crated/wrapped?

275 miles? -- Go get it with your SUV or rent one. That may not be inexpensive, but it is the most secure and less chance of damage.

That would be a very significant cost (my DD is an Impala) plus the terrible weather that can hit at this time of year. I don't need the hardtop that badly. It was to be a winter/basement restoration project that I very enjoy during the snowy months. My Haartz soft-top is like new and serves me well. The hardtop would be a nice addition but not essential.

OK, I'll try another tack. How does the Eckler's black vinyl trim kit (#29633) fit on. Glue?

              Paul,

I shipped my HT once. Top was wrapped in soft cloth, then big bubble wrap. Put in wooded crate and shipped by truck. It went >400 miles with no problem. To get a crate made is about $100, truck freight was $150. Expensive, but the only way to ship one.

Correct as far as the hardtop goes. Expect to have to make door glass adjustments to fit the new top.

More trouble than it's worth...my hardtop has been on my 67 twice- once when I drove it home almost twenty years ago and one other time since....

It seems to be in good shape but I backed off when I did the arithmetic.
                    -$700 for top
                    -crating and shipping about $300-400
                    -brokerage fee $100
                    -Canadian border taxes $100
-refurbish (black vinyl or red paint) $300-400
                    -miscellaneous hardware upgrades/supplies $100-200

So I was looking at $1600-2000. It would be nice to have but not at that price.

C3 Parts for Sale/Wanted - FS; 68-75 Hardtop - Nice white 68 hardtop for sale. Has black headliner. All harware in good shape. Glass date code is JX(May, 1968). Originally was orange headliner but has been dyed black. One small defect in the black dying right about in the center. White paint is pretty good. Looks to...
