my question concerns the years 68-82. i am tring to figure out which years the 350 turbo was the designated trans and which years the 400 turbo was the designated trans. were there any years that you had a choice? did one come with the small blocks and one with the big blocks? thanks in advance...

For 1968-75 all Corvette automatic transmissions were THM-400. For 1976-77, things changed. For these two years the L-48 was equipped with THM-350 and the L-82 was equipped with THM-400. For these years, the engine ordered determined which automatic transmission was supplied (if an automatic transmission was ordered) and the transmission, itself, was not otherwise customer orderable.

For 1978-81 all Corvettes equipped with automatic transmission used the THM-350, although several different variants of it were used over the model years. For 1981, a lock-up converter was standard.

For 1982 ALL Corvettes were equipped with a THM-700R, the first use of a 4 speed automatic in a Corvette..
