69 Shoulder belt plastic screw issue

I am currently redoing the carpet in my 69 vert. I have located the factory mounting holes for the shoulder belts that my beautiful wife requested for safety. This was not originally a shoulder belt car but I now have the factory correct belts and guides.

    The problem:

The plastic screws the factory installed to block this hole had obviously deteriorated and came off in my hand, leaving the threaded part still in the hole.

I have tried everything to get the little piece of plastic out but no luck. I am hoping for any suggestions. I thought about trying to melt them out with a soldering iron and then perhaps running a tap in there.

If I am able to get a tap in there, does anyone know what size and whether they are fine or coarse threads?

Thanks in advance.... my wife really thanks you. ( I tried to explain unsuccessfully that she likely stood a better chance being thrown out of an old vette than getting held in with a shoulder belt....Ha)

I would heat up a sharp screw and then insert it in the middle of the hole while hot. Once it cools try to unscrew or pull it out. A drywall screw might work.

thanks, Phil worked like a charm....

Do you have the specs on the proper size bolt to use to attach the shoulder belt assembly? length as well?

They appear to be coarse threads.

        Steve,

Here is what you should use for the bolts:

And don't forget this for storage of the shoulder belts:

          thanks..!

Those parts indicate they are for up to '68.

Mine is a 69. The 69 has shoulder belt guides up on the top edge of the seat so I don't believe they fully retract.

Sorry Steve, I misread your year. Dah!

What you need should be on one of these three pages.

I do not judge C2s, but I don't believe those are on 1966-67 either--1968 only item.
