I used a little simple green, and this was the difference. I even found my body number.

Original owner says it came off the dealer floor 11/61 with red wheels.

It may have come off the showroom floor with red wheels, but I doubt if it left St. Louis with red wheels.

John, the more I try to understand these things the more confused I get. Now I'm thinking why would a dealer do that in November of 61 when the car was purchased. Does anybody know of someone who owns car #1-28? I guess I am going to just clean all the dirt/grease off of it and replace apparent non-original items like the radiator hoses, plug wires,etc but leave everything else as I found it.

That sounds like a good idea, John. Take it to a meet and let people who have seen lots of these cars give you an opinion. As others have said, the car is only original ONCE. You cannot replace originality.
