    Jim,

Any idea when the change for the transmission oil cooler line holes came into production. My 63 is second week November car and the core support has the holes but it's not original to the car.

Sorry, no. And Noland's excellent book is mum on the subject.

The fan shroud was also changed for the same reason. The new/2nd design shroud had a cutout, or notch for the cooler line hole.

I'm not sure when the change occured to either the support or shroud but a guess would be November, as previously mentioned.

          Re: C2 Radiator support

CRS strikes early and often these days, it seems. In my earlier posting I mentioned my December-built '63. Not even close. It was a February car, which widens the gap for the changeover from 1st design support and shroud to the 2nd design of these parts.

          Sorry about that.

You are correct, the '63 "large humps" design was one year only, and the later design serviced all at least by the early 70's.

I think the mystery is not resolved yet, I'm looking forward for observations about other late '63 cars...

I see your support has the straps over the cross bars. How long were these used?

The straps were used thru the run of original cars, at least thru '65. The welded ones appeared in service.

My Oct 63 AC, auto (64) is the same as yours, small humps, but AC & tranny coolers lines going thru core support & no cross X reinforcement.

As I understand it the X reinforcement is for non AC cars only, The X is removed for the condencer.

That is correct, and the large humps to mount the horns were '63 only also. The service replacement was all of the '64 FI style with the "X" and also the opening for the FI aircleaner inlet.

I wanted to post a picture of my 1963 core support showing the hole for transmission cooler lines and the cut out in the fan shroud.

My car is November build and I know the core support is not original but not sure about the fan shroud.

When was the first report of a hole in the support and notch in the shroud for the cooler lines?
When did the cooler first appear? Would that be around November 62?

                              Your fan shroud looks glossy?

                                Hi Mike,

The shroud probably is a little glossy, I will go check my AIM for the cooler info.

The Judging guide says approx #6500, so I would imagine that's January or February.
